About the Designer

Amante Collection was born somewhere between a love of caring for people and a lifelong love of creating beautiful things.

I’m a Certified Nurse-Midwife by training, but I’ve always had a creative side that was begging for a little more room to play. I’ve spent my career celebrating women through some of the biggest, most transformative moments of their lives—and somewhere along the way, I realized I wanted to create something that celebrated another part of me, too.

So I followed a different kind of calling.

Amante began with a sewing machine, an obsession with beautiful fabrics and trims, and the belief that getting dressed should be fun. Each bag is handmade by me in Chicago, from sourcing the fabrics and dreaming up the designs to sewing on the very last detail. Because they aren’t mass-produced, every piece has its own little personality—just like the person carrying it.

The name of my brand is based off a tattoo I got when I was traveling Portugal with my friends— Amante de Vida or Lover of Life. This brand is a love letter to creativity, craftsmanship, femininity, and the wonderfully impractical things we choose simply because they make us happy.

I believe there’s always room for a little more whimsy. For the bag that starts a conversation. For the unexpected print, the ridiculous trim, the tiny detail that makes you smile every time you see it. For pieces that feel collected and loved rather than simply bought.

Amante Collection is for the lovers, the collectors, the overdressers, the sentimental ones—and anyone who believes life is a little more fun when you carry something special.
